HH Palouchin spent his entire competitive career under the saddle of Rodrigo Pessoa and his father, Nelson Pessoa. Nelson bred Palouchin by Baloubet du Rouet out of Chin, China, both horses ridden by Rodrigo. He was an electrically careful and fast horse that commonly won speed classes by a wide margin. Rodrigo once commented that the first round of a jump-off class was “just a formality” for Palouchin, and the jump-off was where the real fun began. Together, the pair won 1.40m and 1.45m speed classes all over the world, including 1.45m at CSI5* GCT Valencia, Estoril, and Cannes, CSI5* Verona, and WEF $10,000 Welcome Stake. Always a clown around the barn, Palouchin is enjoying his retirement in Ocala where he can commonly be found playing in the pond.
