Paddock Equine Veterinary Services was founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife duo Dr. Beccar Varela and Dr. Patipa. Based in Wellington, Florida, Paddock Equine offers proactive treatment for each animal in their care, prioritizing long-term health and well-being. Since 2017, Double H Farm has worked exclusively with the Paddock Equine team, seeing obvious growth in their horses’ performance and comfort.

Dr. Beccar Varela graduated from veterinary school in Argentina before working in private practice for two years. In 2008, he completed an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Following a three-year large animal surgery residency at the University of Georgia, he worked as a clinical instructor for the College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2012, he obtained his board certification in large animal surgery. He has a special interest in lameness as well as orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Patipa graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine with an emphasis in large animals. She was accepted to stay at UGA for a competitive one-year, rotating equine hospital internship. Following her internship, she worked in Alpharetta, Georgia, for a busy sport horse practice while her husband finished his equine surgical residency. She has a special interest in sport horse lameness and medicine.

When she takes a break caring for some of the industry’s top horses, Dr. Patipa continues to have a successful career in the amateur hunters. Dr. Beccar Varela and Dr. Patipa share their love of animals with their two children, Sofi and Luka.
